How does my story tie into mental health?
It’s my way of showing the beautiful and amazing things that often go unnoticed in the world. The Laminae did, at first, live the only way they knew. Their world crashing down wasn’t the end; it’s the beginning. A second chance to see the world in a new way.

Unlike the inner membrane, the outer membrane is relatively permeable to small molecules and ions
Presence of Porins (VDACs):
It contains a large number of porins, such as the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), which are integral membrane proteins that form channels or pores
Free Diffusion:
These channels allow the free diffusion of ions and small uncharged molecules, up to a specific molecular weight, typically around 5000-6000 daltons
No Membrane Potential:
Due to this free permeability, there is no significant electrochemical gradient or membrane potential across the outer membrane

The outer membrane houses protein translocases,such as TOM (Translocase of the Outer Membrane)complex, which are responsible for importing proteins destined for the inner membrane and matrix into the mitochondrion
